Case Studies
Recent projects have included:
Montpelier Row in Twickenham - a complete row of early Georgian properties built in 1720 by a retired Naval Captain, John Gray. I have undertaken research on the history of the building of the entire row of Georgian houses, as well as an analysis of key architectural features, key residents and an assessment of the residents since . I have also completed research into the residents for Percy House and Tennyson House, creating near complete timelines of residents for these properties along with stories of key residents and their history.
Pirbright Manor - I am looking at the history of Pirbright Manor, from its earliest days to the modern time. This house is interesting as it was once where the manor Court was held in the dining room, and the house also contains many original medieval and Tudor architectural features as well as several witch marks to ward off evil spirits.
Workers Cottages in Virginia Water - I am researching the house history of a small cottage, which was one of the workers cottages for Wentworth's in the late nineteenth century. I have traced the occupiers from 1881 to 1939, and now looking at their individual stories as well as piecing together information on more recent residents.
Cannings Family of Batheaston, Bath - I am currently looking into the family history of the Cannings family who can be traced back to the mid 17th century in Batheaston, just outside bath. I am looking at key individuals within the family, as well as their lives within the village and bath itself. They built a number of houses in the area, and had ties to the Market garden in Batheaston with the Messr family, as well as the Lydiard family, and some family members were lucky enough to marry in Bath Abbey.
